MHSA honored Secretary Marylou Sudders, Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and Timothy Driscoll of South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) at the 2016 MHSA Annual Meeting on December 14 at Boston College Club in Boston. The event included a special announcement by Bernadette Di Re, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Massachusetts, who presented a $1.7 million partnership grant from United Health Foundation for the new Hospital to Housing initiative....
On October 20, The Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance Young Professionals Group (MHSA YPG) held "Homecoming: Let's Bring Our Neighbors Home," a fundraiser geared toward helping MHSA achieve its mission of ending homelessness in the Commonwealth. The event featured live performances from local acts, a buffet of delicious eats, drinks, yard games, and prizes.
Social Action Massachusetts (SAM), a program of the Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance (MHSA), presented a screening of "Under the Bridge: The Criminalization of Homelessness," a documentary film about one summer in Indianapolis, a tent city under a bridge, a man named Maurice, and the criminalization of homelessness in the United States.
On Thursday, July 28, 2016, the Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance Young Professionals Group (MHSA YPG) held “Paint for a Purpose,” an evening of painting and networking at The Paint Bar on Newbury Street in Boston.
On May 12, MHSA supporters gathered at the Hyatt Regency Boston to celebrate MHSA’s 13th Annual Spring Fundraising Event, Home for Good: Solutions Start Here. At the event, MHSA honored Jerry Ray of Mental Health Association, Inc., Santander Bank, N.A. and Goulston & Storrs for their outstanding contributions to ending homelessness in the Commonwealth.
On Sunday, April 2, 2016, Social Action Massachusetts (SAM), a program of the Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance (MHSA), hosted clergy members, lay leaders and students for the workshop Ending Homelessness in Our Communities at Church of the Covenant in Boston. The workshop explored ways communities of faith and ethical commitment could take action to end homelessness.
On Wednesday, March 2, 2016, the MHSA Young Professionals Group (MHSA YPG) presented an evening of networking and fundraising at J.J. Foley's Bar & Grille in Downtown Boston. This free event hosted networking among Greater Boston area young professionals while raising funds and collecting household items for formerly homeless individuals in MHSA's permanent housing programs.
Over 80 MHSA member agency representatives, Board Members and community partners gathered in Boston on December 16 for the 2015 MHSA Annual Meeting. In addition to celebrating MHSA’s accomplishments during Fiscal Year 2015, the event provided an opportunity to honor three individuals who have made important contributions to efforts to end homelessness in the Commonwealth.
