Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance
Privacy Policy

At the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance (MHSA), we respect and protect the privacy of our supporters and those who use our websites. The following privacy statement provides details about how your personal information is collected and used. This privacy statement applies to all of MHSA’s Web pages, correspondence and eNews.

Internet Privacy Policy
The Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance (MHSA) is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share or rent this information to others in ways other than those outlined in this statement. MHSA collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site. Personal info provided by users will be used by MHSA to improve the site and provide a more personalized experience for the user, but information which identifies a specific individual will not be disclosed to others without the user’s permission unless necessary to provide services which the user has requested.

Surveys
From time to time, MHSA requests information from users via e-mail surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include demographic information (such as name and shipping address, zip code or age level.) Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site, publications or special events.

Web Privacy
MHSA respects and acknowledges that your privacy is important and you have the right to control how your personal information is used. We do not collect any personal information on visitors to this website. We do not use "cookies" or other technology to track visits, aside from logging the following for statistical purposes:
• the number of page hits
• the number of unique sessions as identified by server address and top-level domain names (e.g. .com, .gov, .org, etc.)
• the pages accessed or downloaded by session
• the type of browser being used

MHSA will not attempt to identify visitors or their browsing activity.

Email Service
If you wish to receive regular email updates from MHSA, you may sign up for our email service. When you sign up for our email service, the personal details you provide to MHSA are for the sole purpose of sending you information and updates or to request support through donations. At no time will MHSA disclose, sell or otherwise pass on this privileged information to any other organization. The personal details you provide will only be used for the purposes for which it was intended. Our email database is protected by a secure user ID and password to protect it from misuse, unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.

Contact Information
MHSA may also purchase contact lists for the purposes of fundraising. We will only purchase lists from organizations that certify (1) that they comply with all applicable state and federal Privacy Legislation, and (2) that the addresses are from persons who have given permission for their email addresses to be sold, and (3) that the persons have given permission for organizations who purchase their name from a list to send them email.

When we receive an internet donation or inquiry, the donor's email address is added to our email database unless the donor specifies that they not be contacted regarding future fundraising or promotional activities. You can remove your name from our email list at any time, as we do not wish to be guilty of spamming or offending our supporters. Click here for information about unsubscribing or removing your email address.

We will never share, sell, or rent your personal information with third parties for their promotional use. Occasionally, we enter into contracts with third parties so that they can assist us in servicing you (for example, printing or electronic newsletters). The contracts prohibit them from using any of your personal information for their own purposes and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of the information we provide to them.

Choice/Opt-out
MHSA provides users the opportunity to opt-in, opt-out or change preferences via a link in the footer of most email messages. These options are made available when you sign-up for our email lists and in email messages delivered from our company. Alternatively, you may email us at info@mhsa.net to be removed from the email distribution list. As for postal publication, please contact MHSA at (617) 367-6447 to be removed. When you contact us with an opt-out request, all reasonable efforts will be taken to ensure that you will not receive any of the selected communications from us in the future.

Links
Some of our sites provide links to third-party websites, such as those of our non-profit partners and supporters. Because MHSA does not control the information policies or practices of these third parties, you should review their privacy policies to learn more about how they collect and use personally identifiable information.

Policy Updates
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time.
