The Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance was selected to receive the Department of Mental Health (DMH) Commissioner’s Distinguished Service Award in Advocacy. This annual award is presented to individuals and groups who have made a significant impact on the lives of people with mental illness.

“DMH and MHSA both recognize that the struggle to end homelessness is also the struggle to ensure adequate residential and service resources for the men, women and children who live every day with mental illness,” said Joe Finn, MHSA executive director. "We are honored that DMH recognizes the role of MHSA advocacy in our shared goal of ending the homelessness of all mentally ill persons on the streets and in the shelters of Massachusetts."
