Faces of Homelessness Speakers' Bureau

Everyone deserves a home - and everyone has a story. In 2010, MHSA welcomed Sam Longnecker, an AmeriCorps VISTA through the National Coalition for the Homeless, to our team. Sam and his AmeriCorps colleagues have created the Faces of Homelessness Speakers' Bureau, which comprises homeless and formerly homeless individuals who share experiences with schools, congregations and other community groups across Massachusetts. These presentations break down stereotypes and engage communities in efforts to end homelessness.

The Speakers' Bureau is an excellent opportunity for your faith community’s social action committee, youth group or entire congregation to learn more about homelessness from those directly affected by it.

If you are interested in hosting a Speakers' Bureau presentation in your area, please contact Sam Longnecker at slongnecker@mhsa.net. We ask that host faith communities contribute a small sum to help cover speaker honorariums and associated costs.
